5 Things I Can’t Blog Without

5 Things I Can’t Blog Without

Either it’s work or just a hobby, blogging needs some “serious” preparations. You have to pull your thoughts together and form them into something easily readable, informative and even funny to entertain & educate your readers. I bet you have a set up, and some crucial ingredients for a great day at work, everybody has items that are crucial for working efficiently, for me these are the top 5 blogging essentials:

Coffee

I used to be a tea girl, but since I had a baby and I’m lacking of those great 8 hour sleeps coffee became my best friend. So before I sit down to write a post for you guys, I make a latte with just a hint of cinnamon on top and sip it while working.

My MacBook Air

I’m a great fan of small, portable computers (previously I had a little ASUS one, that “died” in 2013 and then my Hubby surprised me with an Apple one). It contains my life; all the articles and photos I’ve ever written, and runs the browser that has nearly a 1000 bookmarked websites I’m storing to read again or refer to.

My Glasses

I had eagle eyes up until I was 26, then something changed (too much time in front of the screen probably) and my sight got worse and worse (especially when reading, or getting tired). After I gave birth to my son, the situation got so bad, that I could no longer postponed to invest into a quality pair of glasses. So I’ve got a Furla Melody frame, that I’m in love with and that I’d love to wear also as a fashion statement because it’s so beautiful, but it’s only for close distances (working on the computer, reading, watching tv) so I’m mostly using it at home 🙁

Planner

I’m an organizer, and I love to handwrite so I guess it’s not a surprise that I’m an addict of planners. I currently have two ( a DM Lifebook and a Happy Planner) and I use them for keeping my life together. Dates, meetings, birthdays, post ideas, post scheduling, sources and so on…I don’t know how could anyone live without a planner.

Phone

I have an iPhone 5 that I inherited from my Husband. I’m not the biggest fan of it, but I think it’s gonna serve me well for a while. I’m not addicted to my phone, but I’m using it to handle my social media sites (Instagram, twitter etc.) and while working on a post I’m often using it as a source of double checking facts on these sites.

I use Google Calender for a planner and set timelines. Also, like most people out there, I need a piece of paper and pen, to first write down some important points, before actually creating my blog. It feels a little more intuitive.

Ahh! I must say all these are my essentials to, just removing coffee and adding some lukewarm water to it, as I really do not drink coffee. I also need some light instrumental music behind me when I’m really out of ideas.

  3. Rachel says:

I’m a hand writer too – I have a notebook that I carry everywhere, and am constantly adding notes to it, so when I sit down tow right all my ideas are at hand. I tend to also have food at hand – I like to snack 😀

For me, it’s really simple but if you knew me then you’d know that I embrace all things simple. I choose a topic from my SEO report within my niche that inspires me, then just start banging away at the computer. Using Photoshop is really the only other “must have” when I sit down to blog.

you hit the nail on the head there! I much like you when it comes to blogging, I need all of those things, esp the coffee! (it’s just not the same without my good cup of Jo 🙂

  6. My blogging essentials are very similar to yours except that i don’t wear glasses and use a windows laptop. Coffee is actually an integral part, so much that I call my blog ‘Style Over Coffee’! 🙂
    Thanks for sharing.

  7. Hot cup of coffee, my laptop, planner and pen, music and phone…these are my top 5 blogging essentials. Loved your list!

Haha same here, macbook pro, planner and my phone. I also need a warm cup of tea and a really really silent place (like my room) or I can’t concentrate. For some reason I love this post, it’s relaxing.

Yes, Yes and Yes! For me most of these things are all online now, like a planner etc. And I can’t blog without my iMac.

I was so glad to get my macbook as well. It’s been such an amazing boon to me being able to blog. I had a PC before and this is just so much better for me in the blogging realm. And yes I couldn’t do this without my phone as well.

  11. I won’t be able to blog with my MacBook Pro and iPhone. They make my work a lot easier.

  12. Bee says:

Mine is my MacBook, phone, planner, green tea, some snacks and a pen with a notebook

  13. I also need my coffee before I start blogging. Just the smell of fresh coffee helps me to concentrate. I make my notes on my mobile as it’s so easy when I travel. But I also like to make notes in my diary

  14. Mine is coffee as well, the rest are essentials. Sometimes I play Italian songs which also helps to inspire me to get some topic.

  15. MinhNguyen says:

Sometimes I have to inspire myself to change my blog. We often think of computers or software as the most necessary for bloggers. But sometimes a cup of coffee every morning can get you a great idea. Your writing really inspires me.

  16. patience, I think it is the main tool. from the outside this job seems easy, but it’s very hard. you need a lot of patience, documentation and hope.
