For me Sunday evenings are always about chill and a little pampering. There is no better time for a bubble bath or a nourishing face mask than those last hours of the week. Great closing for the weekend and a good refill before the work starts again. I picked my 4 favourite, easy to make & natural mask recipes to give your skin/hair/feet/hands a little what they deserve. The ingredients are there in every household, but even if not, they are easy to get at any market or grocery store.
Rice & Honey Foot Soak
Now that winter is coming, soles are tend to get a little rougher and scream for more attention. With this softening foot soak you can guarantee “sandal ready” feet all around the year.
You only need 3 ingredients to create this wonderful pampering paste. Grind the rice until it become like flour. Add two tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the “rice flour” and mix it until you get a thick paste. Soak your feet in warm water for 20 minutes and then massage them all over with the paste you made, you can rinse the paste into the water you soak your feet in and keep your tootsies there for a couple minutes more so they can absorb as much goodness as possible. Then rinse with clean water and you are good to go.
Avocado Hair Mask
Avocados are full with health benefits, not just in the shape of guacamole, or sliced on your sandwich but also as great moisturizer for skin and hair. For a healthy shine add an egg yolk to this mask. So just put the 2 ingredients into a blender and mix it until you get a nice paste. Start to apply the paste at the end of your hair working it towards the roots. Once it’s done, put on a sexy shower cap and relax for 20 minutes. After the time is up, wash it thoroughly with warm (not too hot) water and continue with your regular hair care routine; shampoo, conditioner.
Banana Face Mask
When heating season starts, my skin starts to suffer; the dry air, makes even my combined skin dry like the desert and this is when deep moisturizing becomes a must. This nourishing face mask unites the anti aging effect of bananas, the antibacterial goodness from honey and the lactic acid in the yogurt that smooths your skin, refines pores, and stimulates collagen production. Put the ingredients in a blender and mix them together till they form a consistent paste. Apply the paste onto your face, and give it a good 20 minutes to work (or you just wait until it completely dries out) after that rinse it with warm water.
Citrus Hand Mask
!!! DON’T USE THIS MASK ON DAMAGED SKIN (fresh cuts, burns, wounds) !!!
Any dark spots or discolouration on your hands? The regular use of this brightening citrus hand mask will make it go away and give you palms that soft as silk. The citric acid in the lemon is famous for it’s lightening effect, not just on skin but on nails too. Honey is antibacterial, moisturizing and thanks to the antioxidants in it, it also has an anti aging effect. The added extra baking soda is responsible for exfoliating the dead skin cells.
So after you mixed the ingredients in a bowl, just wash your hands, apply the mixture on them and massage the paste into your skin for a minute. Give it 5-10 minutes to work. When it’s over wash your hands, but do not use soap or any chemicals.
